ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure baseball head coach Jason Rathbun has announced the commitment of five student-athletes who have signed National Letters of Intent to join the program in 2025: incoming freshmen Ty Corey, Chris Florentino, Eamon Giblin, Jack Kelly and Kenny Mapes.
Corey joins the Bonnies from Phoenix, N.Y. where he is a standout for John C. Bridlebough High. A 6-foot-2, 195-pound left-handed pitcher, he has recorded stellar stats on the mound throughout his high school career. As a junior this past spring, he finished the season with a 1.09 ERA after striking out 112 batters and walking only 23 in 58 innings of work. In three varsity seasons, he is a three-time First Team All-League selection with 320 strikeouts in 174 innings.
He was picked First Team All-Central New York in each of the last two years and threw a pair of no-hitters in 2024 on the way to Onondaga High School League Pitcher of the Year honors. He also helped his team to a league championship this spring and hit .552 at the plate.
A National Honor Society member, he plans to major in physical education at St. Bonaventure.
RATHBUN ON COREY: "Ty is a strong, experienced left-handed pitcher. He's been a starting pitcher since his freshman year. He has been all league every year of his career and we're excited to get him on campus and have the opportunity to work with him."

Florentino is an outfield prospect from Hazleton, Pa. The top hitter on a team that went 20-5 for Hazleton Area High, he slashed .426/.518/.750 and was named 6A First Team All-State as a junior. He was also selected as his conference's Player of the Year.
An Honor Roll student, he plans to major in economics.
RATHBUN ON FLORENTINO: "Chris is a 6-foot-3, 205-pound outfielder with the ability to play all three outfield positions. He has a great combination of tools that we're excited to work with. He's a 6.6 runner with a strong arm and a physical frame. We think he has a bright future in our program."
Giblin comes to St. Bonaventure as another Syracuse area product, playing his high school ball at Jamesville-DeWitt High. A potential two-way player who can play short, third and pitch, he has been an all-around star during his prep career. This past season, he slashed .508/.593/1.301 with 21 stolen bases and 29 RBIs offensively. On the mound, he went 6-0 with a 2.21 ERA with 52 strikeouts in 31.2 innings, limiting opposing batters to just a .168 average against him.
A career .406 varsity hitter thus far, he was the 2024 Salt City Athletic Conference Player of the Year and is a two-time First Team All-CNY pick. In 2023, he broke his school's stolen base record with 24 as a sophomore. He was ranked the No. 1 third baseman in New York according to Prep Baseball Report.
He has been a key player on a roster that won the 2023 and 2024 Section 3, Class A titles while capturing the regional championship and finishing as state semifinalists this past spring.
A member of National Honor Society, he plans to major in finance.
RATHBUN ON GIBLIN: "Eamon knew very early in the process that St. Bonaventure was where he wanted to be. He has the ability to play all over the field. He's a very athletic kid who loves to compete; loves to play anything."
Kelly is a product of Rochester where he plays for Webster Schroeder High. A 6-foot-3 right-handed pitcher, he posted a 1.30 ERA with 65 strikeouts in 41 innings as a junior. As a sophomore, he finished with a 1.35 ERA while fanning 34 batters in 31 innings.
A First Team All-County pick each of the last two years, he was honored as his division's Player of the Year as a junior.
He plans to major in business management at St. Bonaventure.
RATHBUN ON KELLY: "Jack is a highly projectable pitcher already featuring a high-80s fastball and has great experience on the mound. He's thrown 72 innings over his sophomore and junior seasons with 99 strikeouts."
Mapes hails from Wyalusing, Pa., where he has been a standout first baseman at Wyalusing Valley High.
He hit .341 with three home runs, 10 doubles and 30 RBIs from the right side as a junior after finishing at .346 with 23 RBIs as a sophomore. A two-time league and all-region pick, he helped his team to finish third in the Pennsylvania state Class AA tournament last spring.
A High Honor Roll student, he plans to major in accounting.
RATHBUN ON MAPES: "Kenny is 6-foot-3, 215-pound first baseman with a strong, physical frame and smooth actions who is a plus-rated defender. He's been a starter on his high school team since his freshman year. He spent the summer with the Northeast Pride program out of Pennsylvania."
