Bonnies Capture 6-1 Victory Over Fordham in Home Opener

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University men's tennis team earned an Atlantic 10 victory against Fordham, 6-1, Saturday afternoon at the SBU Tennis Center.

The duo of Jean Marrero and Anargha Ganguly got the Bonnies in the win column at No. 3 doubles, taking down Bingru Chen and John Mascone, 6-4.

Fordham, however, came away with the doubles point after clinching wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.

The Bonnies flipped the script in singles, capturing wins at all six spots.

Rasmus Egehus and Hugo Cochlin were the first to post wins at No. 2 and No. 4 singles, respectively. Egehus defeated Nick Kanazirev in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4, while Cochlin also won in straight sets, winning 6-4, 6-4 over Mascone.

Archie Graham and Connor Turner each battled to three set victories. Graham took down Nick Mueller, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4, at No. 1 singles and Turner bested Dhillon Virdee-Oakley at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 1-6, 6-2.

Ganguly and Marrero completed the sweep of singles with wins at No. 5 and No. 6. Ganguly defeated Bingru Chen, 6-1, 6-3, and Marrero battled Stefan Stojanovic to a 6-2, 6-4 victory.

The Bonnies are back in action Saturday, Feb. 17 when they host Little Three Rival Niagara
