WASHINGTON, D.C. – St. Bonaventure freshman Jake Kucinski has earned Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors following a record-setting performance this past weekend.

Kucinski matched the school record for single-game goals in Saturday's contest at Binghamton, scoring six times. It also set a new record for single-game goals by a Bonnies freshman.

The Crofton, MD native became just the third Bonaventure player to score six goals in a game: Sean Westley did it twice, including the last instance on Feb. 25, 2023. Jackson Rose also accomplished the feat in 2022. 

Kucinski scored three of his goals in order during the first quarter for SBU's first natural hat trick since Westley's in April 2022 at Quinnipiac. He also notched the first hat trick of any kind by a Bona freshman since Jake Rosa had four tallies Feb. 9, 2020 vs. Saint Joseph's.

Even more impressively, Kucinski is the only freshman in Division I to score six or more goals in a game so far in 2024.

He is the second Bonnies player to earn an A-10 weekly award in as many weeks this year, joining sophomore Cristofero Cucciuffo who was named the Co-Defensive Player of the Week last week. 

The Bonnies return to action Tuesday afternoon by hosting Robert Morris at the Marra Athletics Complex. Coverage gets underway on the Bonnies Online Network at 3:45 p.m. and faceoff is at 4 p.m.
