ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – For the third straight game, Kellen Pulera netted four goals but it would not be enough as Robert Morris used a dominating second quarter to score a 16-11 victory Tuesday afternoon at the Marra Athletics Complex.

The Bonnies scored on their first possession as Mark Belles scored just 26 seconds into the game for early momentum. RMU answered with the next two goals, but Pulera tallied his first of the day on the power play, assisted by reigning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week Jake Kuncinski for the tie.

Freshman Patrick Shanahan found the back of the cage for a 3-2 lead and, after alternating goals with the Colonials, the Bonnies led again when Conor Murphy scored unassisted for a 5-4 lead after the opening 15 minutes.

The second period turned the tide, however, as RMU dominated the quarter before intermission.

The Colonials (1-1) went on a 4-0 run to begin the second and outscored the Bonnies by an 8-2 margin overall to lead 12-7 at halftime.

Bona tried to claw its way back into the game as Pulera and Carpenter scored the first two goals of the third to creep within 12-9 with 3:39 left in the quarter.

RMU ended the rally, however, with two scores in the final 3:39 of the third for a 14-9 advantage after three.

Shanahan and Pulera both scored for the Bonnies in the fourth, but the hosts could not cash in on a three-minute man-up opportunity while RMU scored a short-handed goal at the 9:22 mark to put the game effectively on ice.

In addition to Pulera's four goals, which give him 12 on the season, Shanahan had his first career multi-goal game, adding an assist for three points.

Kucinski, who scored six times on Saturday, handed out two helpers for three points as well.

Jake Rosa also had a goal for the Bonnies while Benny Carter notched two assists and Drew Kenney had one as well.

Freshman Grant Giunchi won a career-best 13 faceoffs, also registering six groundballs.

Long pole Aiden MacDonell had a strong game defensively with four groundballs and two caused turnovers. Jake Argue and Nick Porfilio had three groundballs apiece and Adam Shank turned in two caused turnovers on the defensive end as well.

Cristofero Cucciuffo and Connor Robinson both had seven saves apiece as two goalies split halves. Robinson only allowed four goals in the second half, including multiple saves from point-blank range.

David Burr was a menace for Robert Morris, scoring seven goals all before halftime, adding two assists for nine points. Ben Starkey and Elliot Holden both had hat tricks as well.

The Bonnies are back in action this weekend, heading to VMI Saturday afternoon. Faceoff is set for 11 a.m.
