WEST POINT, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University women's tennis team fell in a pair of weekend matches to UConn and Army in West Point.

The Bonnies dropped their opening match of the weekend Friday afternoon to UConn, 5-2, and fell to Army Saturday evening, 4-0.

Bona's was able to come away with the doubles point, taking down the Huskies and No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.

At the top spot, the pair of Anastasia Gubanova and Isabella Venter bested Olivia Wright ad Victoria Matos, 7-5. Abbie Tyler and Cirkeline Lundberg helped clinch the doubles point with a 6-3 victory over Maria Constantinou and Nansi Toskova.

In singles action, Venter turned in a 6-4, 7-6 victory over Matos at No. 4 singles.

In doubles against Army, Tyler and Lundberg were ahead 5-2 at No. 2 doubles, but the match went unfinished after wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles for Army, clinching the doubles point.

Moving into singles, Lundberg and Tyler were ahead at No. 1 and No. 4, respectively, but Army clinched the match with wins at No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 singles.

The Bonnies are back in action Friday, February 9 when they make their home debut against Binghamton at 1:00 p.m.
