Bonnies Softball Drops Atlantic 10 Series at Saint Joseph’s

PHILADELPHIA – The St. Bonaventure University softball team dropped its opening Atlantic 10 series on the road at Saint Joseph's Saturday and Sunday.

The Hawks (9-14, 3-0 A-10) took game one from the Bonnies Saturday, 10-0, before winning the night cap, 9-1. Saint Joseph's completed the sweep with a 10-2-win Sunday afternoon.

In game one, Saint Joseph's plated three in the bottom of the first before erupting for a six-run second frame, putting the game out of reach.

The Hawks tacked on an insurance run in the third to secure the win.

Brooke Bobbey, Grace Walker, Kymora Wang, Olivia Moon and Elyse Graham all registered hits for the Bonnies in game one.

In game two of Saturday's doubleheader, the Hawks jumped out to an early 8-0 advantage after three innings of play.

Moon pulled one back for the Bonnies (1-13, 0-3 A-10) with a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth.

The Hawks, however, plated the game-winning run in the bottom of the fifth, earning the doubleheader sweep.

In the series finale Sunday, the Hawks once again jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one.

The Bonnies would pull back within one in the top of the third as Reagan Mangos and Kennedy Haberl scored on a Saint Joseph's error.

Saint Joseph's pushed its lead back to two in the bottom of the fourth before scoring three runs in each of the fifth and sixth inning, completing the three-game sweep.

The Bonnies are back in action Tuesday, March 19 when they travel to take on Buffalo. The doubleheader is slated for a 2:00 p.m. start.
