Bona Men’s Soccer Welcomes 11 Newcomers for 2024

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure University men's soccer head coach Kwame Oduro has finalized his roster for the upcoming 2024 season.

Oduro and the Bonnies welcome 11 new members to the squad, including two transfer students and nine freshmen.

"Our incoming class is filled with players that have consistently won games," Oduro said. "We are confident that they will push our team to a successful season. We are excited to embark on their journeys. It is a new chapter, but we have same desire to win and all these players will fuel that winning desire."

Gabriel Addo, Gabriel Kiekenbeck, Ben Choudhry, Xavier Davidson, Leonardo Witt Fragoso, Neshawn Sutherland, Sven Merkesdal, Yaseen Khaled, Harry Booth, Christopher Mularadelis and Drew Leardini will all compete for the Bonnies in 2024.

Gabriel Addo joins the Bonnies from Accra, Ghana and is a graduate transfer from Rutgers. He is midfielder who appeared in 20 games for the Scarlet Knights, making six starts. As a freshman, Addo registered an assist. He was also a member of the 2022 Big Ten Championship team. At the club level, he has spent time with New Jersey Copa. Addo will work toward his MBA at St. Bonaventure.

A senior transfer, Gabriel Kiekenbeck comes to St. Bonaventure as a defender Rottach-Egern, Germany. Kiekenbeck played his first two collegiate seasons at Peninsula College, helping the Pirates to back-to-back Northwest Athletic Conference North Division Championships while starting in 30 games over that span. As a junior last season, Kiekenbeck started in 12 games at D'Youville College, playing full time in 10 contests. He will study business management at St. Bonaventure.

Ben Choudhry is a goalkeeper from Pickering, Ontario and Bill Crothers Secondary School. Choudhry was named the FTF Showcase Goalkeeper of the Tournament while also earning a FTF Showcase First Team selection. He was a member of the FTF Top 60 Canada in 2022 and 2023. Choudhry has also spent time with Toronto FC, helping the squad to U-17 and U-19 MLS Next regular season championships. He helped the U-19 squad to a League 1 Ontario Championship. He intends to study marketing at St. Bonaventure.

Joining the Brown and White from Kingston, Jamaica is defender Xavier Davidson who served as the Jamaica All Schools U-19 team captain. He helped his teams go undefeated in two competitions, winning the Manning Cup and Champions Cup. Davidson scored the game-winning penalty kick to help his squad win the Manning Cup. He plans to study business at St. Bonaventure.

Coming to St. Bonaventure from Espergærde, Denmark is defender Leonardo Witt Fragoso. In 2017, Witt Fragoso helped his team to a U-14 Regional Championship. He has also spent time with EC Bahia and Cruzeiro at the club level. Witt Fragoso intends to major in psychology at St. Bonaventure.

Neshawn Sutherland joins the Bonnies from Toronto, Ontario. As a forward and midfielder, he competed in the 2021 Ontario Cup with Juventus Academy. With Sigma FC in 2022, Sutherland scored 11 goals and added 12 assists in 23 games. He was also a 2024 FTFxVaughan Spring Showdown U-19 Boys Second Team Starting XI selection. Sutherland plans to study accounting at SBU.

Sven Merkesdal joins St. Bonaventure as a midfielder from Vikesa, Norway. Merkesdal helped his teams to a U-19 national final in 2022 and a U-19 national semifinal spot in 2021. Merkesdal intends to major in finance at Bona's.

Joining the Brown and White from Mequon, Wisc. is Yaseen Khaled who is a defender for Homestead High School. Khaled was part of a back line that allowed just four goals all season. He has earned All-North Shore First and Second Team accolades while helping his teams to three regional championships and two conference championships. At the club level, he has also spent time with FC Wisconsin ENCL. Khaled intends to be an international studies major at St. Bonaventure.

Coming to St. Bonaventure from Dubai, United Arab Emirates is forward Harry Booth, a forward for Al Ittifaq. Booth was a UAE Division 2 First Team selection and was the top goal scorer in the Dubai Amateur Football League. He helped his team with the U-18 Mina Cup qualifier where he was the top scorer. Booth plans on studying criminology at St. Bonaventure.

Christopher Mularadelis joins the Bonnies from Aberdeen, N.J. and was a defender for Matawan Regional. He served as the team captain as a senior last season and was also named the team's most valuable player. Mularadelis intends to major in finance at SBU.

Drew Leardini comes to St. Bonaventure from Youngstown, N.Y. where he was a forward for Lewiston-Porter. A two-year varsity captain, Leardini registered 90 goals and 40 assists during his career. He is a three-time Niagara Frontier First Team selection, the 2023 Niagara Frontier Player of the Year and also is a two-time United Soccer Coaches All-American and a two-time All-East Region selection. Leardini is a two-time New York All-State selection and a two-time All-Western New York selection. His resume also includes two Gatorade Player of the Year finalist selections, a 2023 BIMBO All-American Game East Region honor, a 2023 USA Today Player of the Year nominee and he was a two-time Niagara Gazette Player of the Year. He helped his team to two section championships, a 2023 All-League semifinalist finish and a Far West Regional Championship. He has also spent time with the Western New York Flash at the club level. He intends on studying sports management at Bona's.

The Bonnies are set to begin the 2024 season Thursday, Aug. 22 at 6:00 p.m. when they host Saint Francis (PA) at the Marra Athletics Complex.
