Bonnies Travel To Cleveland State Sunday

The St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team begins a stretch of five straight road games Sunday, Aug. 25 when it takes on Cleveland State. Kickoff is slated for 4:00 p.m. in Ohio.

Bona's fell to Saint Francis (PA), 3-0, in the season opener Thursday evening.

NEW BONNIES
Xavier Davidson, Gabriel Addo, Neshawn Sutherland and Sven Merkesdal all made their St. Bonaventure debut Thursday against the Red Flash.

Addo played full-time in the midfield in his Bonnies debut while Xavier Davidson also earned the start, playing 77 minutes on the back line.

Sutherland and Merkesdal entered as substitutes in the second half, playing 22 minutes apiece.

GOING THE DISTANCE
Xaver Ehrlich, Mo Tall, Keegan Dawson and Callum Shillington also played the full 90 minutes along with Addo in the opener.

ROAD TESTED
Sunday's contest against the Vikings marks the first of five straight games on the road for the Bonnies.

After Sunday, the Bonnies travel to take on Canisius (Aug. 29), 2023 Big Ten Tournament runner-up Penn State (Sept. 2), Quinnipiac (Sept. 7) and Niagara (Sept. 14).

ABOUT THE VIKINGS
Cleveland State enters Sunday's matchup 0-0-1 on the year, opening the season with a 1-1 draw on the road at Ohio State. The Vikings finished 2023 3-9-5 overall and 2-3-4 in Horizon League play.

The Vikings were picked to finish second in the 2024 Horizon League preseason poll, receiving one first-place vote.

Cleveland State returns Kyle Folds who earned Second Team All-League honors in 2023. Also returning for the Vikings in 2022 Horizon League Player of the Year and 2021 Horizon League Offensive Player of the Year, Bojan Kovelski, after missing part of last season with an injury.

UP NEXT
The Bonnies travel to take on Little Three rival Canisius Thursday, Aug. 29. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. in Buffalo.
