ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Senior Andres Javitt's goal in the 85th minute sent the St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team to a 1-1 draw against Le Moyne Wednesday evening at the Marra Athletics Complex.
Trailing in the final six minutes of the contest, Mattia Ferretti sent a long ball into the box to the head of Umechi Akuazaoku. The senior headed the ball to Javitt who scissor-kicked home the game-tying goal.
Le Moyne (3-1-2) who scored a win over nationally ranked Syracuse earlier this month, netted the game's first goal in the 56th minute. Ziad Abdul-Malak found the back of the net, giving the visitors a 1-0 advantage early in the second half.
The Bonnies (2-4-1) looked to start the scoring in the 17th minute when Keegan Dawson was open on the back post, but his shot was pushed wide of the net.
In the 35th minute, Akuazaoku was taken down in the box, sending the official to review on VAR and ruled no penalty kick.
The Bonnies opened the second half on the offensive when Rashid Aroza chipped the Le Moyne goalkeeper in the 49th minute. His shot, however, caromed of the post and was cleared by the Dolphins.
Nicolas Pucci finished with two saves for the Bonnies.
Kenzo Brito made his season debut after missing the first six games due to injury, leading the Bonnies with four shots in the contest. Aroza added three shots while Javitt and Mo Tall registered two shots apiece. Also registering a shot was Bo Drath.
QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH KWAME ODURO
" It shows a little bit of character, right? We've had some tough results, so to come back in tonight's game and get a tie was good sign for our team going forward, especially as we get close to Atlantic 10 Conference games. Overall I thought it was a good result."
UP NEXT
