Javitt’s Game-Winner Propels Bonnies Past Robert Morris, 2-1

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Senior Andres Javitt's bicycle kick goal in the 87th minute sent the St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Robert Morris on a rainy Tuesday afternoon at the Marra Athletics Complex.

With time winding down, Mattia Ferretti corralled the ball and cut a bouncing pass back to Javitt to the left of the goal. The senior wound up and bicycle kicked the game-winning goal past the goalkeeper, sending the Bonnies (3-4-1, 0-0-1 A-10) to a thrilling victory.

The two sides seemed to be heading for a draw after Robert Morris (3-3-2, 1-0-1 Horizon) tied the game at 1-1 in the 82nd minute on an Anass Hadran penalty kick.

Bona's led for most of the contest after Kenzo Brito netted his first goal of the season in the 17th minute off a feed from Javitt.

Javitt finished the contest with three points and leads the Bonnies this season with nine points on three goals and three assists. Tuesday marked the third time this year that Javitt has registered multiple points in a single game.

Rashid Aroza looked to double the Bonnies' first half lead in the 35th minute, but his shot was blocked by a Colonial defender.

Bonnies goalkeeper Nicolas Pucci made one save in the victory while Brito paced the offense with four shots.

QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH KWAME ODURO
"I was speechless. To be able to think of that and be able to execute that kick tells you a little bit of how brilliant of a player Andres is. I'm still speechless."

"Kenzo brings another dimension to our team. His creativity, I mean, look at the goal he scored. No one thought he was going to shoot it and bam, it's in the bottom corner. We are glad to have him back."

"I told our boys that we are undefeated in our last two games so the streak continues. To win in front of the home fans is always great and hopefully we can take this momentum into Saturday."

UP NEXT
The Bonnies head out on the road to take on Rhode Island Saturday in a return to Atlantic 10 play. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m.
