1/25/2025 6:11:00 PM

HAMILTON, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure women's swim and dive team closed out the dual meet portion its schedule Saturday afternoon at Colgate. The Bonnies dropped a hard-fought battle to the Raiders, 155-144, despite eight event wins including three from Halle Myers.

Myers touched the wall first in the 50 (23.78) and 100-freestyle (52.52) as well as the 100-fly (56.95).

Diver Dhavgely Mendoza continued a great start to her collegiate career with another sweep on the boards. Mendoza posted a 296.85 on the 1-meter and 319.05 on the 3-meter.

Mendoza's scores in both events qualify her for NCAA Zones.

In the 1000-freestyle, Nele Vetter picked up the first win of the afternoon for the Bonnies. Vetter went 10:45.86 to claim victory.

Vetter earned a runner-up finish in the 200-fly as well, touching the wall in 2:10.77.

Sophomore Anna Bojana Forjan picked up a pair of wins to add to the Bonnies points total. The sophomore finished with a time of 57.87 in the 100-backstroke and 2:08.69 in the 200-IM.

Bojana Forjan also recorded a second-place finish in the 200-backstroke (2:05.54).

Kathryn Lyons and Kathryn Beyer recorded second-place finishes in the 200-breast (2:29.02) and 500-free (5:16.86).

QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH MIKE SMIECHOWSKI
"The divers did great. It is the first time in a very long time we have qualified a diver for the women to zones, so it is a big day. Sanayia Joefield also had arguably her best meet of the year and scored a lot of points for the team."

"It was a tough loss for the women. A huge credit to  the Colgate women's team; they really swam tough and showed they wanted to win and came to race. We have about 20 percent of our women's roster out with injuries or a stomach bug going around. We are looking forward to the four weeks before Atlantic 10 Conference Championships to get healthy."
