HAMPTON, Va. – The St. Bonaventure women's swim and dive team recorded a ninth-place finish in the Atlantic 10 Championship meet at the Hampton Virginia Aquaplex. As a team, the Bonnies set two new program records and earned a silver medal in the 1-meter dive.

George Washington earned its fourth consecutive championship with 598.5 points. Richmond was the runner-up (571), followed by Duquesne (525). Fordham (339), George Mason (324), and Davidson (300.5) all posted 300+ team points. Massachusetts (284) and La Salle (241) finished ahead of the Bonnies who recorded 241 points. Rhode Island (189) and Saint Louis (72) took 10th and 11th respectively.

Freshman Phoebe McClaren began Saturday's action with a record-setting performance in the 1650-freestyle. McClaren finished fourth in the event with a time of 16:51.49. Her time bested the previous fastest time in program history by almost five seconds, set by Claire Schaef (16:56.19) in 2020.

The 400-freestyle relay also posted a new fastest time in Bona history.

Bojana Forjan, Halle Myers, Ellie Kraus, and Nele Vetter combined for a time of 3:20.72 to jump to the top of the Bonnies all-time records. The same group set the previous record at last year's championship meet with a time of 3:20.83.

In the 200-backstroke, Anna Bojana Forjan appeared in the A-final for the Bonnies. She touched the wall in 1:58.02 to earn a sixth-place finish.

Daciana Colon swam in the B-final of the 200-back, going 2:00.97 to take 12th.

Seniors Halle Myers and Ellie Kraus both made appearances in the 100-free finals. Myers posted a time of 50.69 in the A-final for an eighth-place finish. Kraus went 49.93 to win the consolation race.

QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH MIKE SMIECHOWSKI
"I'm really proud of our women; we stayed in the fight until the end. We are building and starting to show signs of being able to compete with the top half of the conference. This year's women's squad came together and established a culture that will benefit many future generations of Bonnies. That's something I'm most proud of this year."
