Frank Mitchell has been named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week after back-to-back double-doubles, the conference announced Monday (Dec. 15).
Mitchell averaged 23.0 points, 16.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists over two games. He tallied a combined 46 points and 33 rebounds on the week while shooting 58.8 percent (20-for-34) from the field.
In Wednesday's win over Colgate (Dec. 10), the Toronto native posted 19 points and a season-best 18 rebounds. His rebounding total was the highest single-game tally by any Atlantic 10 player this season.
On his 24
th birthday, Mitchell scored a career-best 27 points on Saturday (Dec. 13) against Ohio. He added 15 rebounds while shooting 12-for-20 (60 percent) from the field. His 12 made field goals were also a single-game-high among all Atlantic 10 players.
Of Mitchell's 33 rebounds this week, 21 came on the offensive end. He had at least 10 offensive rebounds in both games: 11 vs. Colgate and 10 against Ohio.
Mitchell has nine double-doubles on the season. He has recorded a double-double in six consecutive games. The big man is averaging an Atlantic-10-best 11.6 rebounds per game.
Mitchell and the Bonnies will be back in action on Saturday (Dec. 20) against Le Moyne at the Reilly Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m., and the game will be televised on the YES Network and streamed live on ESPN+.
