OPENING FACEOFF
The St. Bonaventure men's lacrosse team returns to action on Tuesday, hosting Mercyhurst at the Marra Athletics Complex. The Bonnies enter at 1-3, coming off of a heartbreaking one-goal loss at Robert Morris. The Lakers come in with an 0-3 record after a 9-8 loss to Queens and they are looking for their first Division I win.

LAST TIME OUT
Bona is coming off an 8-7 road loss in which they took preseason NEC favorites Robert Morris down to the wire. The Bonnies held a 7-5 advantage with about eight minutes to go in the contest, but the Colonials surged back in frigid temperatures and took the lead with nearly four minutes to play. Senior Drew Kenney led the team with three points (1G-2A) in the loss.

SENIOR SUCCESS
Kenney's productive performance against RMU adds to an impressive season as he has now scored at least one point in each game. Highlighting his efforts are his assist and game-winning overtime goal at Mount St. Mary's. He has totaled eight points (4G-4A) on the year.

PERFECT ON PENALTIES
The Brown and White killed all four of Robert Morris' man-up opportunities. They also scored on an extra-man opportunity of their own, courtesy of Kyle Pepper's third individual man-up goal of the season. He is tied for the national lead.

ROOKIE HONORS
Freshman faceoff specialist Lad Harper earned an Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week selection on Feb. 17. He won 14 faceoffs (66 percent) against the Mount and scooped 10 groundballs, the third most in a single game in program history.

BETWEEN THE POSTS
Freshman goalie Isaac Farmer has found his groove as he has saved 56 percent of shots faced across the past two games. He has made 38 saves on the year so far, starting each of the past three games for the Bonnies.

TRENDING NUMBERS
1 – Each of the last two matchups for the Bonnies have been decided by one goal.

ABOUT MERCYHURST

  • The Lakers are coached by Trey Keeley in his second season with the program. In his initial season at the helm, he led the team to a 13-5 record and went undefeated with eight wins in the GMAC to win the regular season conference title. They also won the conference tournament and appeared in the first round of the Division II NCAA tournament. Keeley's efforts earned him GMAC Coach of the Year honors.
  • The 2025 season is Mercyhurst's first as a Division I program. They won the D-II national championship in 2011, taking down Adelphi 9-8. They appeared again in the title game in 2023 but fell 20-5 to Lenoir-Rhyne. Prior to their transition, they had appeared in five straight D-II NCAA tournaments.
  • The team returns four of their five All-Americans from last season. Headlining the group is graduate student Ethan Landymore who won the 2024 GMAC Offensive Athlete of the Year.
  • With junior Tyler Moritzen in goal, the Lakers rank second in the NEC in saves per game (13.67) and third in save percentage (47.7%).
