Women's Basketball Hosts Dayton Saturday for Senior Day

The St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team wraps up the regular season Saturday, March 1 when it hosts Dayton. Tipoff is slated for 1:00 p.m. at the Reilly Center.

SENIOR DAY SATURDAY
Prior to tipoff Saturday afternoon the Bonnies will honor graduating student-athlete Dani Haskell as part of Senior Day.

Haskell is a two-year member of the women's basketball program, appearing in 54 games and making 52 starts in the Brown and White. During her time with the Bonnies, Haskell has averaged 12.7 points and 3.0 rebounds per game while making 110 3-pointers. She has scored in double figures 37 times, including 11 games with 20 or more points. This season, Haskell scored a career-high 29 points in a road victory at Canisius and matched that mark Jan. 12 against Massachusetts.

For her career, Haskell has played 118 games while making 112 starts. She has tallied 1,486 points and 391 rebounds while making 225 threes.

LAS TIME OUT
The Bonnies fell to Duquesne, 74-48, in the final road game of the regular season Wednesday morning in Pittsburgh.

Mackenzie Pettinelli paced the Bonnies with 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting, including three 3-pointers. Caitlin Frost and Dani Haskell each chipped in 10 points for the Brown and White.

Pettinelli scored eight straight points for the Bonnies in the first quarter, giving the visitors an early 13-11 lead.

The Dukes, however, closed the first quarter with a 7-0 run, taking a 18-13 lead.

Duquesne used an 11-2 spurt in the second quarter to take a 15-point lead and never looked back Wednesday.

TRENDING NUMBERS

9 – The Bonnies committed just nine turnovers Wednesday at Duquesne, marking a new season-low for the Brown and White.

13.0 – Redshirt senior Dani Haskell leads the Bonnies in scoring this season, averaging 13.0 points per game. She has scored in double figures 18 times, including seven games with 20 or more points.

13.2 – Bona's ranks second in the Atlantic 10 and 11th in the NCAA in fouls per game, committing just 13.2 per contest.

33.3 – Freshman Zoe Shaw ranks fourth in the Atlantic 10 overall and first among A-10 freshmen in minutes per game, averaging 33.3.

84.6 – Dani Haskell ranks second in the A-10 in free throw percentage this season, shooting 84.6 percent from the charity stripe.

SCOUTING THE FLYERS

  • Dayton enters the regular season finale 16-12 overall and 10-7 in Atlantic 10 play. The Flyers are coming off a 74-65 victory against Saint Joseph's Wednesday evening and have won three out of their last four overall, picking up wins over Fordham and George Washington.
  • The Flyers finished last season 12-19 and 5-13 against A-10 foes, advancing to the second round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament before falling to Rhode Island, 70-57. Dayton was picked to finish 10th in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll.
  • Tamika Williams-Jeter is in her third season as the head coach of Dayton women's basketball, posting a 35-52 record with the Flyers. Prior to Dayton, Williams-Jeter went 18-8 in one season as the head coach at Division III Wittenburg.
  • Ivy Wolf paces the Flyers this season on offense, averaging 15.7 points per game. Arianna Smith is second on the team in scoring at 12.0 points per game while leading the Flyers in rebounding, grabbing 9.8 rebounds per contest.

SERIES HISTORY
The Bonnies and Flyers are set to meet for the 35th time Saturday afternoon. The Flyers lead the all-time series 23-11 and have won the last two meetings between the schools.

Bona's last defeated Dayton, 54-53, Jan. 19, 2023 at the Reilly Center behind a game-winning shot from Maddie Dziezgowski and 14 points from Nadechka Laccen.

Bonnies head coach Jim Crowley is 6-14 all-time against the Flyers.

UP NEXT
The Bonnies head to Henrico, Va. for the 2025 Atlantic 10 Tournament at the Henrico Sports and Events Center. First round action begins Wednesday, March 5. The Bonnies first opponent and time are to be announced.
