Bonnies Take Series Finale Against George Mason

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure baseball team put up six runs early and held off a late rally from George Mason to secure a 7-3 win in the series finale Sunday afternoon at Handler Park.

Bonaventure (8-14, 1-5 A-10) got on the board first in the second inning.

After a one-out single from Robert Mannino, Harrison Kaufman hit a line-drive double into right center, bringing Mannino in to score from first.

The Bonnies added to their lead in the bottom of the fifth.

Connor Vercollone went deep for the fifth time this season by driving one out to left-center, making the SBU lead 2-0.

Bona's extended their lead later in the seventh.

Hoalcraft brought in the first two runs of the inning on an RBI single up the middle. One batter later, David Marshall had an RBI groundout to shortstop. Morgan Little then pushed the advantage to 6-0 on a sac fly to deep right.

The Patriots started to push back against the Bonnies' lead in the eighth. A string of one-out hits put three runs on the board for George Mason, making it a 6-3 game.

Tucker Genovesi helped put the game out of reach in the bottom of the eighth, sending a single into center field to bring in another insurance run.

Chance Moore (1-1) threw six scoreless innings for the Bonnies, allowing only five hits and one walk while striking out five. Luke Roggenburk threw three innings in relief to close out the win for his third save.

Bonaventure will open their next series on Friday, March 28 at 6 p.m. at Saint Louis.

QUOTES FROM HEAD COACH JASON RATHBUN
"Proud of the way our team responded after two tough games. We should get healthy after this weekend and hopefully we can get on a positive run. I believe in this team and there is a lot of season left. Need guys to step like Chance Moore did for us today."
