ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure baseball team dropped their series finale against Davidson, 15-8, Sunday afternoon at Handler Park.
The Wildcats jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on an RBI double in the first inning.
Bonaventure responded with a run in the bottom of the inning.
Jayce Tharnish led off the inning with a double down the left field line. After stealing third base, he came in to score on an RBI single from Chris Hoalcraft.
Davidson (19-23, 13-8 A-10) blew the game open with a rally in the second inning. The Wildcats scored nine runs in the inning to make it a 10-1 game.
The Bonnies (13-27, 4-17) added a run in each the second and third innings.
In the second, Antonio Cordeiro singled to lead off the inning and came in to score on an error. In the third, Chris Hoalcraft led the inning off with a triple. Harrison Kaufman followed the triple with an RBI single that brought Hoalcraft home.
Bona plated four in the eighth with two scoring on a hit from David Marshall Jr. and another pair coming across on run-scoring groundouts.
Unfortunately for the Bonnies, though, the early hole would be too big to dig out of.
Hoalcraft had two hits and a pair of runs driven in to lead the Bona offense. Conor Wolf and Ryan Kucy each had scoreless innings on the mound.Â
The Bonnies will play at home on Tuesday, April 29, against Niagara.
