ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure Athletics Department produced another impressive semester of academic success as Bonnies student-athletes compiled a 3.385 overall grade point average for the Spring 2025 semester.
"Our student-athletes continue to achieve at the highest levels academically," Vice President and Director of Athletics Bob Beretta said. "As a department, our student-athletes improved their academic performance in almost every category from last spring. We also improved in many areas when compared to the fall, despite the majority of our teams competing in their championship segments during the spring."
It marks the 40th consecutive semester that St. Bonaventure student-athletes have boasted a department GPA of better than 3.0 – a run of nearly two full decades. Further, the department cumulative GPA is 3.387.
The Spring 2025 semester saw 80 percent of Bona's student-athletes (304 out of 382) post a GPA of 3.0 or better. Fifty-seven percent of Bonnies student-athletes achieved a 3.5 semester GPA or better (219 of 382) while 82 percent (314) boast a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
Fifty-eight student-athletes posted a 4.0 GPA in 2025 compared to the 45 student-athletes during the Spring 2024 semester (12% to 15%) while 17 scholar-athletes feature a cumulative GPA of 4.0.
"Having 57 percent of our student-athletes record GPAs of at least 3.5 and 58 student-athletes post a perfect 4.0 GPA this past semester is incredible," Beretta added. "Those results speak to their commitment to excellence on and off the playing field. I'd like to thank our dedicated and talented faculty and academic support team for the roles they play in helping our student-athletes flourish."
Seventeen Bonaventure Division I programs saw their team GPA surpass 3.0 while 11 teams earned a GPA of 3.4 or higher during the most recent semester. Bonnies women's tennis earned the crown of highest team GPA at 3.756 while the highest academic achieving male squad was men's soccer at 3.587.
From the Fall 2024 semester to the Spring 2025 semester, the number of student-athletes with a 3.5 GPA or higher rose from 213 to 219 (55% to 57%). The cumulative GPA of all Bonnies student-athletes rose from 3.372 in the fall semester to 3.387 during the spring semester.
