The St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team sets out for its first road matches of the new season, beginning with a trip to take on Bucknell Sunday, Aug. 24. Kickoff is slated for 6:00 p.m. at Emmitt Field.
The Bonnies then head out on the road to visit Saint Francis (PA) Thursday, Aug. 28 at 2:00 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bonnies opened the new season at home against Niagara, falling 3-2 to the Purple Eagles.
Niagara grabbed a two-goal lead at halftime before Seth Hammond got the Bonnies on the board in the 47th minute off an assist from Ethan Streeter.
Down 3-1 late in the contest, the Bonnies earned a penalty kick in the 87th minute and Kyle Macfarlane stepped up and buried the shot into the back of the net for his first goal of the season.
Hugo Berville, Callum Shillington and Macfarlane played the full 90 minutes for the Brown and White.
Felix Shöne earned the start in net for the Bonnies, making three saves.
NEW BONNIES
Ten student-athletes made their Bonnies debut against Niagara Thursday.
Benajmin Haynes (58 minutes), Ritter Sundby (73 minutes), Jesper van Halderen (65 minutes), Ricardo Rittersberger Galan (53 minutes), Brendan Sheehan (62 minutes), Berville, Hammond, Macfarlane and Streeter all saw action for the first time with the Brown and White.
BUCKNELL NOTES
- The Bison enter Sunday's contest 1-0-0 on the year after taking down No. 23 Hofstra, 2-1, in the season opener Thursday evening. Bucknell finished last season 7-7-6 overall and 4-1-4 in Patriot League play.
- Bucknell captured the Patriot League Tournament Championship last season, defeating Colgate 3-0 in the finals. The Bison went on to face Providence the in first round of the NCAA Tournament, falling to the Friars, 2-1.
- The Bison were picked to finish second in this season's Patriot League preseason poll, earning four first place votes. Goalkeeper Fred Lapworth was named the Patriot League Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year while also being named to the Mac Hermann Watch List as the best player in college soccer. Midfielder Jimmy Pombor was also selected to the Patriot League Preseason All-Conference Team.
SAINT FRANCIS NOTES
- The Red Flash began the 2025 season with a 3-0 loss to Xavier Thursday evening in Ohio. Saint Francis finished last season 7-7-2 overall and 5-2-1 in Northeast Conference play.
- Saint Francis was picked to finish fifth in the NEC preseason poll.
- Alex De Nittis is the team's top returning scorer with two goals and three assists for seven points last season.

The Bonnies return home to host Mercyhurst Sunday, Aug. 31. Kickoff is slated for 2:00 p.m. at the Marra Athletics Complex.
