The St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team welcomes La Salle to the Reilly Center Saturday, Jan. 24. Tipoff is slated for 1:00 p.m. which has been moved up from the original tipoff time of 3:00 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bonnies dropped a tightly contested game to George Mason, 57-48, who improved to 8-0 in Atlantic 10 play following Wednesday's win.
Aaliyah Parker paced the Bonnies with 11 points, seven rebounds and two steals. Laycee Drake chipped in seven points and three steals while Mackenzie Pettinelli and Elyse MacDonough netted six points each.
Bona's grabbed a fourth-quarter lead following a pair of free throws from Parker, but the Patriots ended the game on a 10-2 run to pull away from the Bonnies.
BOUNCE BACK BONNIES
The Bonnies are 5-2 following a loss this season, having lost back-to-back game just twice this season.
While looking to avoid their first three-game skid of the season, the Bonnies are allowing just 53.2 points per game following a loss.
60 IS THE MAGIC NUMBER
Bona's is 10-1 this season when allowing 60 or less points and sit fourth in the Atlantic 10 in scoring defense, giving up 59.2 points per game. Rhode Island touts the best scoring defense in the A-10, allowing just 53.4 points per contest.
The Brown and White are allowing opponents to shoot just 37.6 percent overall from the floor this season, ranking third in the Atlantic 10.
DEFENDING THE THREE
The Brown and White currently sit second in the Atlantic 10 and 17th in the NCAA, holding opponents to a 25.8 shooting percentage from beyond the arc this season.
The Bonnies have held opponents to five or fewer made 3-pointers 12 times this season, including a season-low one made three in the season opener against Mansfield Nov. 3.
SWIPER NO SWIPING
The Bonnies have had fast hands on defense this season, averaging 8.1 steals per game this season.
Aaliyah Parker leads the Bonnies and ranks sixth in the Atlantic 10 this season with 40 steals. Laycee Drake sits just behind Parker with 37 steals, ranking eighth in the A-10. Mackenzie Pettinelli is also averaging over a steal per game with 26 thefts this season.
LA SALLE NOTES
- La Salle enters Saturday's contest 10-9 overall and 3-5 in Atlantic 10, dropping its last five conference games after starting 3-0 in league play. The Explorers finished last season 10-23 overall and 3-15 against Atlantic 10 foes. La Salle was picked 12th in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll.
- Aryss Macktoon and Ashleigh Connor lead the way offensively for the Explorers, averaging 14.9 points each. Macktoon is pulling down a team-best 6.9 rebounds per game while Connor is grabbing 5.7 rebounds per contest. Joan Quinn is also averaging double figures for La Salle, chipping in 10.5 points per game.
- Mountain MacGillivray is in his eighth season as the head coach at La Salle, touting a 92-136 record during his time in Philadelphia.
SERIES HISTORY
The Bonnies and Explorers are set to meet for the 39th time Saturday afternoon. La Salle leads the all-time series, 21-17, but are just 5-13 against the Bonnies on the road.
Bona's and La Salle split a home-and-home series last season with each team winning on the road. The Bonnies bested La Salle in Philadelphia Feb. 22, 48-41, behind 19 points from Dani Haskell.
Bonnies head coach Jim Crowley is 13-10 all-time against the Explorers.
