CHICAGO – The St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team fell to Loyola Chicago, 60-52, on the road Saturday afternoon.
Laycee Drake paced the Bonnies with 12 points, seven assists and five rebounds. Aaliyah Parker also finished in double figures with 10 points while Olivia DiFranco chipped in nine points.
The Ramblers (10-11, 6-4 A-10) hit their first four out of six attempts from the floor in the first to build an early 10-5 lead.
Bona's battled back to tie the contest at 10-10 on a layup from Gabby Robinson off a slick feed from Drake with 2:43 to play in the first.
Following a three that put the Ramblers up 15-10, the Bonnies scored four unanswered points to end the first to pull within one at the quarter break, 15-14.
Drake gave the Bonnies their first lead of the afternoon with a three to open the second quarter. Kylie Buckley pushed the Brown and White's lead to three on a free throw after being fouled on the next possession.
Loyola Chicago, however, used a quick 5-0 spurt to retake the lead, 21-18, forcing the Bonnies to call a timeout.
Elyse MacDonough was able to find Mackenzie Pettinelli underneath to pull the Bonnies (12-11, 3-8 A-10) within one, but the Ramblers ended the half on a 5-0 run to take a 26-20 lead at the break.
It was a back and forth start to the third quarter as neither team was able to pull away.
Kylie Buckley tied the game late in the third, 38-38, on a baseline jump shot with under a minute to play in the period.
Following a Rambler free throw, Kaylee Krysztof knocked down a corner three to put the Bonnies on top. 41-39.
Brianna Barr-Buday gave the Bonnies a fourth quarter lead, 48-46, with under five minutes to play.
The Ramblers, however, outscored the Bonnies, 14-4 over the final 4:53 to pull away for the 60-52 victory.
GAME NOTES
- The Bonnies finished the game shooting 40.0 percent (20-for-50) from the field while Loyola Chicago shot 46.9 percent (23-for-49) from the floor.
- Bona's won the battle on the glass, outrebounding the Ramblers, 30-28.
- St. Bonaventure recorded 18 points off 13 forced turnovers.

The Bonnies return home to host Davidson Wednesday, Feb. 4. Tipoff is slated for 6:00 p.m. at the Reilly Center.
