Women’s Basketball Hosts Fordham on Senior Day Saturday

The St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team returns home to host Fordham Saturday, Feb. 28 in the regular season finale at the Reilly Center. Tipoff is set for 1:00 p.m.

Saturday will be Senior Day at the Reilly Center as the Bonnies will honor Mya Davidson, Gabby Robinson, Aaliyah Parker and Laycee Drake.

LAST TIME OUT
The Bonnies fell on the road to George Washington, 61-47, Wednesday night in the nation's capital.

Aaliyah Parker paced the Bonnies with 12 points and seven rebounds while Elyse MacDonough registered a career-high 10 points to go along with four rebounds.

The Bonnies came to life in the third, opening the period on a 10-2 run and cutting their deficit down to five, 36-31.

George Washington, however, outscored the Bonnies 17-4 over the final 5:34 of the third to take a commanding 53-35 lead over the Brown and White.

60 IS THE MAGIC NUMBER
Bona's is 12-3 this season when allowing 60 or less points, giving up 61.0 points per game. Rhode Island touts the best scoring defense in the A-10, allowing just 54.0 points per contest.

DEFENDING THE THREE
The Brown and White currently sit second in the Atlantic 10 and 44th in the NCAA, holding opponents to a 27.9 shooting percentage from beyond the arc this season.

The Bonnies have held opponents to five or fewer 3-pointers made 14 times this season, including a season-low one made three in the season opener against Mansfield Nov. 3.

DRAKE TURNING HEADS
Bonnies graduate Laycee Drake is one of the most improved players in the country this season. In 28 games last season at UAlbany, Drake averaged 3.3 points, 1.5 rebounds and 0.5 assists across 8.4 minutes per game. She finished the year with nine steals and shot 37.9 percent from the field.

This season, Drake leads the Bonnies in scoring, rebounds and assists. She is averaging 15.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Drake has registered 52 steals and is shooting 43.6 percent from the field while making a career-high 34 3-pointers.

Drake currently ranks third in the Atlantic 10 in made field goals (170), fifth in field goal percentage (43.6) and eighth in scoring (15.0).

PARKER'S PROWESS
Aaliyah Parker surpassed 1,500 career points and 700 rebounds, making her one of just 27 active players nationally to achieve those numbers. Her 328 career steals stand fifth among all active players while her 2.83 steals per game are behind only Hannah Hidalgo of Notre Dame, Ny'Ceara Pryor of Texas A&M and Taylee Chirrick of Montana State.

This season she ranks fourth in the Atlantic 10 in steals (60), fourth in steals per game (2.1) and is 11th in free throw percentage (75.8 percent).

FORDHAM NOTES

  • Fordham enters the week 10-18 overall and are 2-15 in Atlantic 10 play. The Rams have dropped three straight games to Duquesne, Rhode Island and Davidson. Fordham finished last season 15-15 overall and 9-9 in A-10 play. The Rams were picked to finish 11th in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll.
  • Alexis Black leads the Rams in scoring this season, averaging 16.8 points per game but has played in just 20 games this season. Ugne Sirtautaite is second on the team in scoring at 7.5 points per contest while also playing in 20 games. On the glass, Emma Wilson-Santos is pulling down a team-best 5.6 rebounds per game.
  • Bridgette Mitchell is in her third season as the head coach of the Rams, touting a 37-50 record in the Bronx. Mitchell started her head coaching career at Northeastern and is 70-80 overall as a head coach.

SERIES HISTORY
The Bonnies and Rams are set to meet for the 51st time Saturday afternoon. The Rams lead the all-time series 26-24 over the Bonnies and have won 13 straight over the Brown and White.

Both teams met in mid-January with the Rams scoring a 66-53 win over the Bonnies in the Bronx.

Bonnies head coach Jim Crowley is 16-14 all-time against Fordham.

UP NEXT
The Bonnies head to the Atlantic 10 Tournament at the Henrico Sports and Events Center in Henrico, Va. Action kicks off Wednesday, March 4.

Bona's first round opponent and game time are too be announced following the conclusion of Saturday's games.
