AUSTIN, Texas – The St. Bonaventure University softball team fell to Incarnate Word, 21-1, in the finale at the Longhorn Invitational hosted by Texas.
The Cardinals jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first, scoring three on a single and an error. Incarnate Word capped off the inning with a fourth run on an RBI single.
UIW added three in the second on an RBI double and a two-run home run, taking a 7-0 lead over the Bonnies.
The Bonnies were able to pull one back in the bottom half of the second when Sydney DeGram lined an RBI triple to the gap, scoring Sawyer Burke.
The Cardinals pulled away from the Bonnies for good with a six-run top of the third before plating eight runs in the fifth.
DeGram finished with a pair of hits on the day while Burke, Colsten Beers and Kymora Wang also registered hits.
The Bonnies are back in action Friday, March 6 when they travel to Indiana to take on Green Bay at the Boilermaker Softball Classic hosted by Purdue.
