Bonnies Sweep Saturday Doubleheader from Rams

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The St. Bonaventure University softball team took a pair of games from Rhode Island on the road Saturday afternoon to kick off Atlantic 10 play.

The Bonnies grabbed game one from the Rams, 5-1, before scoring a 7-3 win in game two.

Game 1 – St. Bonaventure 5, Rhode Island 1
The Rams scored the game's first run in the bottom of the third on a sacrifice fly.

The Bonnies were quick to answer with four runs in the top of the fourth.

Kendall Stull started the scoring when she reached on an error that allowed Sydney DeGram to cross home and tie the game.

Bona's took its first lead of the game on a Kymora Wang sacrifice fly before Grace Miller and Abigail Ahern extended the lead to 4-1 with RBI singles.

The Brown and White tacked on an insurance run in the top of the seventh when Nolah Moyer reached on an error.

Stull went the distance in the circle for the Bonnies, scattering four hits while striking out three.

Game 2 – St. Bonaventure 7, Rhode Island 3
The Bonnies were able to take an early lead in game two of the day, scoring on a Lauren Dundon sacrifice fly in the top of the first.

The Rams, however, tied the game in the bottom half of the first on an RBI single through the left side of the infield.

Nolah Moyer gave the Bonnies back the lead in the top of the third when she lined a double into the gap that allowed Colsten Beers to come around and score from first, pushing the Bonnies ahead, 2-1.

Ahern pushed the Bonnies lead to 4-1 in the top of the fourth with a two-run home run.

The Rams pulled two back in the bottom of the fourth with a walk and a sacrifice fly.

Dundon made it 5-3 in favor of the Bonnies in the top of the fifth with a solo home run to straight away center field.

Ahern connected on her second two-run home run of the game in the top of the six, pushing the Bonnies lead to 7-3.

Ava Lomelin tossed a complete game for her first win in the circle this season.

The Bonnies and Rams conclude action Sunday, March 15 with a single game at 12:00 p.m.
