OPENING FACEOFF
St. Bonaventure returns home after a week on the road, hosting rival Canisius in the non-conference finale Tuesday evening at 5 p.m. on the Marra Athletics Complex turf. Broadcast coverage is set for ESPN+.
WEEK IN REVIEW
The Bonnies went 1-1 last week, scoring a 12-9 victory at Mercyhurst last Tuesday before battling back in Saturday's game to force overtime at Cleveland State before falling in a heartbreaker, 12-11.
In the win at Mercyhurst,
Cole Kucinski led the attack with five points (4G-1A) and
Patrick Shanahan netted a hat trick.
Chris Lawrence (1G-2A),
Blake Maracle (1G-1A),
Jonas Johnson (1G-1A) and
Jaxon Dillon (1G-1A) all had multiple points in the win.
Isaac Farmer made 10 saves in net.
At Cleveland State, Kucinski went for four points (2G-2A) as did Dillon (2G-2A). Maracle (2G-1A) and Shanahan (3G) all had strong performances as well.
RISING UP THE RANKS
Cole Kucinski enters this week tied for the Atlantic 10 lead in total goals with 18. Jack Turowsky of UMass also has 18 goals but has played one extra game.
Patrick Shanahan also is tied for seventh among all A-10 players with 14 goals.
Defensively, long stick midfielder
Owen Tasse has totaled 17 caused turnovers on the year, second among all A-10 players behind only Colman Craft's 19 for Hobart. Tasse has also scooped up 30 groundballs, good for third in the league and just ahead of teammates
Lad Harper and
Jeremy Askin who each have 26.
Aiden MacDonell's seven caused turnovers stand eighth in the A-10.
Harper and Askin are 1-2 in the A-10 for faceoff percentage – Harper has won 51 faceoffs, winning his opportunities at the faceoff dot at a .607 clip. Askin, meanwhile, has scored 43 faceoff victories for a .551 winning percentage. As a team, the Bonnies have compiled a .604 winning percentage which is best in the A-10 and ninth nationally.
In net,
Isaac Farmer posts third in the A-10 for goals against average at 10.38.

SERIES HISTORY
St. Bonaventure leads, 4-3
The Bonnies are seeking the first three-game winning streak by either side in the series since SBU joined the Division I ranks in 2019. In the last game played at the Marra Complex, the Bonnies scored a 12-8 victory on March 12, 2024, when Shanahan netted three goals and tallied four points.
Benny Carter snagged four groundballs with two caused turnovers. Last year, the Bonnies won a 7-6 thriller in Buffalo when Shanahan struck for the game-winner as the final buzzer sounded. Dillon registered a goal and an assist while
John Boomer also scored a goal. Carter recorded a caused turnover and five GBs and Farmer turned away nine shots in net.
SBU has played Canisius at least once in every year since joining the D-I ranks and the two programs were MAAC rivals from 2019-22.

CANISIUS NOTES
- The Golden Griffs moved to 2-4 on the season with a win in their MAAC opener this past weekend, 10-5, at home vs. Iona. The Griffs opened the year at A-10 opponent Hobart in a 13-8 loss before playing four common opponents to the Bonnies – Mercyhurst, Robert Morris, Le Moyne and Cleveland State. While the Bonnies went 2-2 in those games, the Griffs went 1-3, losing to Mercyhurst (10-8) and Robert Morris (11-8) as well as Cleveland State (13-9), but sneaking past Le Moyne (8-7).
- Canisius was selected sixth in the nine-team MAAC Preseason Poll, led by senior defenseman Alexis Simard who was a Preseason All-MAAC pick.
- Canisius enters this week ranked 21st nationally in scoring defense while allowing 9.8 goals per game and 64th in offense at 8.5 goals per contest.
