VESTAL, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University softball team fell to Binghamton in a non-conference doubleheader on the road Wednesday afternoon.
The Bearcats defeated the Bonnies, 12-7, in game one before taking the night cap, 11-3.
Game 1 – Binghamton 12, St. Bonaventure 7
The Bonnies got out to a fast start in game one Wednesday, scoring five runs in the top of the first.
Kymora Wang brought in the game's first run with a hard-hit ball that went off the shortstop's glove and into the outfield. Next up was Nolah Moyer who lined a single into the gap, making it a 2-0 game.
Still with only one out and runners on first and third, Grace Miller belted her fourth home run of the season to straight away centerfield, bringing in Wang and Moyer while making it a 5-0 advantage for the Brown and White.
The Bearcats, however, were able to pull two back in the bottom of the first on a single and a double steal attempt.
Wang drove in her second run of the game in the top of the second, lining an RBI single to left field, scoring Lauren Dundon from third who had reached on a double a few batters earlier.
Binghamton cut the Bonnies lead to 6-4 in the bottom of the third, scoring a pair of runs on a single and a wild pitch.
The hosted grabbed their first lead of the game with a four-run fourth inning.
The Bearcats opened the scoring with a two-run home run before plating two more runs on a single and a double to take an 8-6 lead.
Binghamton took a six-run lead in the bottom half of the fifth with a second four-run inning.
The Bonnies were able to load the bases in the top of the sixth before Wang collected her third RBI of the game with an RBI single.
The Bearcats, however, were able to work out of the jam with just one run allowed.
That would be as close as the Bonnies would get as Binghamton closed out the game in the top of the seventh.
Game 2 – Binghamton 11, St. Bonaventure 3 – 5 Innings
The Bearcats took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a single and a sacrifice fly.
Binghamton extended its lead to 7-0 in the second, plating five runs in the inning on three hits, a groundout and an error.
The hosts added a pair of insurance runs in the third on a two-run single.
Bona's cut into the deficit in the top of the four when Miller smacked her second home run of the day, scoring a pair and making it a 9-2 game.
A few batters later, Sydney DeGram reached on an error which allowed Sawyer Burke to come around and score to cut it to a six-run game.
Binghamton, however, would walk it off in the bottom of the fifth with a two-run home run.

The Bonnies travel to the City of Brotherly Love for a three-game series against Saint Joseph's which starts Saturday, April 18.
