Hawks Limit Bonnies Bats in Saturday Doubleheader

PHILADELPHIA – St. Bonaventure University softball team dropped a doubleheader on the road at Saint Joseph's Saturday afternoon.

The Hawks held on for the game one win, 3-2, before taking game two, 6-1.

Game 1 – Saint Joseph's 3, St. Bonaventure 2
The Bonnies came out of the gate swinging Saturday, scoring a pair of runs in the top of the first.

Sydney DeGram reached on an error to lead off the game before Abigail Ahern lined a double into the gap, allowing DeGram to come around and score.

Two batters later, Kymora Wang grounded out which scored Ahern from third, making it a 2-0 game.

The Hawks pulled one back in the bottom half of the second, scoring on a sacrifice fly.

The hosts took their first lead of game one in the fifth with two runs on a double and a groundout, taking a 3-2 lead late in the game.

That would be all the Hawks would need to secure the game one win.

Wang and Colsten Beers also collected hits for the Brown and White.

Kendall Stull scatters six hits across five innings of work while Ava Lomelin worked an inning in relief.

Game 2 – Saint Joseph's 6, St. Bonaventure 1
The Hawks scored first in game two, grabbing the game's first run on an RBI groundout.

The Bonnies tied the game in the top of the second when Kelsey Brady worked a bases loaded walk.

Saint Joseph's, however, plated four runs in the bottom half of the second on a triple, a single, a sacrifice fly and a passed ball to retake the lead, 5-1.

The Hawks tacked on an insurance run on a sacrifice fly in the sixth, extending their lead to 6-1.

Saint Joseph's retired the Bonnies in the seventh to earn the win.
