WASHINGTON, D.C. – St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse senior captain
Brit Colangelo has earned Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week honors, conference officials announced Tuesday.
Â
The Scarborough, Ontario native paved the way for the Bonnies on defense this past Saturday in a commanding 15-4 win over George Washington. With four caused turnovers and four groundballs, she led the team in both statistical categories. Saturday's defensive performance marked the fewest goals allowed to an opponent in an Atlantic 10 game by the Bonnies since 2004.
Â
After Saturday's contest, Colangelo concluded the 2026 regular season with a conference-leading 40 caused turnovers, also ranking second in groundballs with 43 total tallies. Her 40 caused turnovers are the fourth-highest single-season total in program history, beating out her 2024 and 2025 totals which both sat at 34.
Â
This week's defensive selection marks the second of the season for Colangelo, giving the Bonnies their third A-10 weekly Defensive Player of the Week award overall after sophomore goalkeeper
Judy Mahoney earned the award Feb. 16 for a 60-minute performance with just two goals allowed against Long Island.
For the season, the Bonnies have earned seven total A-10 weekly awards, tying the program record first set in 2006.
Â
Colangelo and the Bonnies will face off against George Washington again this Thursday at 3:00 p.m. in the quarterfinals of the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
