ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University softball team dropped a pair of Atlantic 10 contests to George Mason Friday afternoon at Joyce Field.
The Bonnies fell in game one, 6-0, before dropping game two, 6-2.
Game 1 – George Mason 6, St. Bonaventure 0
The Patriots kicked off the scoring in the top of the second, scoring the game's first run on an RBI double down the line and then an RBI single, making it a 2-0 game early on.
George Mason tacked on two more runs in the top of the third on a double and a single.
The Patriots added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the seventh, coming across to score on an error and an attempted steal.
Sydney DeGram, Annabel Burke, Kendall Stull and Ava Lomelin all notched hits for the Brown and White.
Game 2 – George Mason 6, St. Bonaventure 2
George Mason jumped out to an early lead once again, plating a run on an RBI double down the left field line in the top of the first.
The Patriots made it a 2-0 game in the top of the third, scoring on a sacrifice fly.
The Bonnies were able to tie the game late in the bottom of the sixth when Lauren Dundon hit a high flyball to left field. The fielder was unable to come up with the catch, allowing two runs to come home, tying the game at 2-2.
George Mason, however, answered with four runs in the top of the seventh on a pair of RBI singles and an RBI double.
That would be all the Patriots needed to secure the doubleheader sweep.
DeGram, Kymora Wang, Colleen Schrems and Eleanor Park registered hits for the Bonnies.
