ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University softball team split an Atlantic 10 doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Joyce Field.
The Bonnies scored a 3-2 win in game one, but fell to GW, 6-3, in game two.
Following game two, the Bonnies honored graduating student-athlete Reanna Perkins on Senior Day.
Game 1 – St. Bonaventure 3, George Washington 2
Lauren Dundon gave the Bonnies an early lead in game one, belting a first-pitch home run over the left field fence for a 1-0 advantage in the bottom half of the first.
The Revolutionaries struck for two runs on a double in the top of the fourth, taking a 2-1 lead over the Bonnies.
The Bonnies tied the game in the fifth when Kendall Stull laid down a bunt in between the George Washington infield, allowing Colsten Beers to come around and score from second.
George Washington, however, was able to work out of a bases loaded jam with an inning ending double play, keeping the score tied at 2-2.
With two outs and runners on first and third in the bottom of the sixth, Kymora Wang crossed home for the game-winning run on a wild pitch.
The one-run edge would be enough for Stull in the circle, retiring the Revolutionaries to secure the win in the top of the seventh.
Stull scattered six hits and struck out two in the complete game victory.
Game 2 – George Washington 6, St. Bonaventure 3
The Revolutionaries took the first lead in game two, scoring a pair of runs on two RBI singles.
The Bonnies, however, were quick to answer with two runs of their own in the bottom of first.
Kymora Wang brought in the first run for the Brown and White on a safety squeeze before Nolah Moyer knocked in the second run for the Bonnies with an RBI single during the next at-bat.
George Washington retook the lead in the third on an RBI single up the middle.
Bona's was quick to tie the contest at 3-3 in the bottom half of the third when Grace Miller singles home Lauren Dundon.
The Revolutionaries pulled ahead for good in the fourth frame, taking a 5-3 lead on an error and an RBI double.
The visitors tacked on an insurance run in the fifth on an RBI single for a three-run advantage, securing the series win.
