ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure women's soccer team posted a shutout performance on Thursday evening at the Marra Athletics Complex, capturing a 2-0 victory over visiting Le Moyne under the lights powered by goals from freshmen Liana Tata and Ava Dimperio.
 
The Bonnies (2-2) earned the game's first advantage in the 60th minute as Tata drilled her second penalty kick score of the season following a Le Moyne foul in the box. Though the Dolphins (0-5) would attempt to recuperate and draw even, Dimperio extended the hosts' lead 22 minutes later as she received a pass from fellow freshman Ava Reybitz and sneaked a bouncing shot past the extended leg of a defender.
 
Despite a fast-paced first half in which the Bonnies tallied seven shots to the Dolphins' two, both teams were kept off the board until the second stanza. Five of those first half SBU scoring attempts were placed on goal and saved by Le Moyne goalkeeper Mikayla McPheron, including two good looks from Reybitz to start the match.

Throughout the second half, the Brown and White continued to safely defend and apply pressure, eventually being rewarded with two goals from underclassmen.

Freshman goalkeeper Callie Turpin, who recorded a shutout in net, made her first and only save in the 59th minute as the hosts made it difficult to find any breathing room throughout the match.
 
Though Le Moyne saw two legitimate scoring chances within 10 minutes left to play, the visitors could not capitalize as they watched both shots sail wide of the net. SBU then controlled possession down the stretch, letting the clock tick down and coming away victorious in front of home fans for the second time this season in three opportunities.
 
The result marked first-year Bonaventure head coach Ray Leone's 311th career win, a figure which positions him tied for the 32nd-highest tally among all active Division I head coaches.
