St. Bonaventure

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure women's soccer team played to a scoreless tie against Long Island on Sunday afternoon at the SUSA Orlin & Cohen Sports Complex.
 
Bona's freshman Liana Tata recorded the game's first shot on goal in the eighth minute which was saved by Long Island (0-6-1) goalkeeper Alexandra DeEira-Loccisano. The two programs subsequently traded scoring opportunities for the remainder of the first half but could not capitalize.
 
Junior Hannah Lindenberger fired two shots for the visitors just before the halftime buzzer which were both turned away to keep things scoreless.
 
Coming out of the midway break with determination, the Sharks recorded the first seven shots of the second half to no avail before Bonnies' freshman Ava Reybitz found shooting space in the 78th minute to break the streak. Freshman Jada Lloyd also fought for a scoring look just five minutes later, though both of SBU's attempts were saved as the team was unable to break the tie before the clock ticked down to zeroes.
 
The Sharks outshot the Bonnies in the match, 13-10, though SBU placed six chances on net to LIU's five.
 
Freshman goalkeeper Callie Turpin earned her fourth career start and played full-time for Bona's, posting her third clean sheet of the season. She made five saves in the performance, extending her streak of scoreless goalkeeping to over 306 minutes.

With Sunday's result, the Bonnies complete non-conference play at 3-3-1 overall.

The Bonnies will begin Atlantic 10 play at the Marra Athletics Complex this upcoming Saturday as the team is set to host Dayton at 6:00 p.m.
