
Kate Achter was named associate head coach in her fourth year asa member of the St. Bonaventure coach staff. “This is a titleKate has earned and deserves," said head coach Jim Crowley. "Herwork ethic, commitment, and dedication to our student-athletes aretremendous assets to our program.”
Achter assisted in the Bonnies 24-11record in 2013-14, which ultimately resulted in a trip to theSecond Round of the WNIT. St. Bonaventure was originally voted tofinish ninth in the preseason poll but with the help Achter’sguidance, SBU finished second in the Atlantic 10 and reached thesemifinals of the A-10 Championship.
During the 2011-12 season, she helpedthe Bonnies to a program-record 31 wins and a trip to the Sweet 16.SBU went through the always competitive Atlantic 10 Conferenceschedule at a perfect 14-0 en route to winning the A-10 regularseason title outright.
In 2010-11, Achter helped lead theBonnies to what was then their third straight 20-win season,finishing with a 21-12 record and a trip to the Second Round of theWNIT.
Achter served as a graduate assistant for athletic development atBowling Green for a year prior to joining Crowley's staff in2010.
A 2008 graduate of Bowling Green State University, Achter was anAll-American point guard for the Falcons. During her career,Bowling Green won four consecutive Mid-American Conferencechampionships, advanced to the NCAA Tournament three times and wona total of 108 games against only 21 losses. In 2007, Achter ledthe Falcons to the Sweet 16 as the team's starting point guard, andplayed every minute of BGSU's first two games to get the Falcons tothat point.
Achter ranks fifth in Bowling Green women's basketball historywith 1,580 points. She also is the Falcons' all-time leaderin assists with 688, and free throws with 551.
After college, Achter played professionally for one season withPalaio Faliro in Athens, Greece. She returned to BowlingGreen in the winter of 2009 and was a graduate assistant strengthand conditioning coach. Prior to that, Achter was a volunteerassistant coach at Pike Delta York High School in Delta, Ohio.
