Makayla Folts joined the Bonnies sports performance staff in August of 2024 serving as a graduate assistant. In March of 2025 she was then hired as a full-time assistant strength and conditioning coach. In her current role, she oversees the strength and conditioning programs for women's soccer, men's golf and men's and women's tennis teams. Folts also assists with women’s basketball and men’s lacrosse."

Prior to her time with the Bonnies, she spent two years as a sports performance intern at Duquesne University where she oversaw the strength and conditioning for Cheerleading and assisted with women’s basketball, football, women’s rowing, men’s and women’s tennis and men’s soccer. Following her time spent at Duquesne she interned with the sports performance staff at the University of Pittsburgh assisting with softball, baseball and men’s and women’s cross country as a Strength and Conditioning intern. Being an Olean native, Folts spent three summers interning in the Bonnie’s weight room where she assisted with men’s and women’s basketball. 
 
Folts graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from Duquesne University and is currently working toward her master's degree in Sports Administration as well as an MBA from St. Bonaventure University.
 
During her time spent at Duquesne University she spent 3 years serving as a student manager for the women’s basketball team where she was named head manager in her junior year. Folts was also named head intern in her second year with Duquesne’s sports performance staff. 

She currently holds certifications in NSCA CSCS and CPR/AED, while working towards obtaining her CSCCa SCCC certification.
