The GoBonnies.com Male Athlete of the Week presented by CPL for the week ending Jan. 22 is men’s track sophomore Clay Peets.

Peets crushed the previous school record in the 3000 meters as part of an impressive first day of indoor season for the St. Bonaventure men's track team Saturday afternoon at the Houghton Invitational.

The Akron, Ohio native picked up where he left off following a strong cross country season last fall, posting the winning time in the 3000. He beat out 34 other runners, clearing the rest of the field by nearly two seconds with a mark of 8:45.82.

His run easily eclipsed the previous school record mark of 9:27.81 set in 2020.
