Bonnies fall in final minutes at Temple

PHILADELPHIA, PA.- - The St. Bonaventure men's soccer team fell at Temple, 2-1 Friday, Oct. 11, giving up two goals in the final 18 minutes of play.

The first goal of the game belonged to the Bonnies in the 65th minute. Senior midfielder Johnny Phoumanny scored the Bonnies lone goal off a penalty kick, giving them the 1-0 lead.

In the 72nd minute, Temple's Tony Donatelli tied the game on a 20 yard shot to the left of junior goalkeeper Mike Krupka. He was assisted by Steven Wacker.

Temple won the game in the 83rd minute when Wacker scored on a penalty kick.

The Bonnies fall to 6-4 overall, 1-2 in the Atlantic 10, while Temple improves to 5-7 overall, 2-2 in the A-10.

"The game showed a lack of mental strength on our parts by not finishing the job," said head coach Bill Brady. "We defeated ourselves mentally."

The Bonnies continue A-10 play at Saint Joseph's on Sunday, Oct. 13. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m.
