Hawks nip Bonnies in double OT

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - St. Bonaventure remained winless in the Atlantic 10 Conference, as Saint Joseph's scored in the 108th minute to give the Hawks the 3-2 double overtime victory Sunday afternoon at McGraw-Jennings Field.

Freshman Andrew Takats netted the game-winning goal past St. Bonaventure's Sean Eyde to improve the Hawks to 4-2 in A-10 play.

Senior forward Jahmal Cameron led the Bonnies' offensive attack, scoring both goals in the first half to give St. Bonaventure a 2-1 advantage going into halftime. Cameron struck early in the 14th minute, as he avoided a defender and scored unassisted from 15 yards out.

Saint Joseph's Matt James rebounded brought his team even with the Bonnies 1-1 with a goal in the 28th minute. James rebounded the ball and put it past Eyde after a scramble in the box. Takats and Adam Duffy were credited with assists.

Cameron put his second shot past goalkeeper Kevin Dougher in the 38th minute. Cameron took a pass on the right side from freshman midfielder Kevin Omokhua tallying his team-high fifth goal on the season.

The Hawks responded 12 minutes into the second half, evening the score 2-2. Matt netted his second goal of the day off a pass from Scott Cunningham.

The Bonnies tallied 16 shots in 108 minutes, outshooting the Hawks by four.

Eyde recorded two saves, dropping him to 1-7 on the season. Dougher tallied nine saves and improved to 6-5.

The loss drops St. Bonaventure to 1-12-1 and 0-6 in A-10 play. The Hawks improve to 7-7 and 4-2 in the conference.

The Bonnies will return to action on Friday, Oct. 24, taking on Rhode Island at 3 p.m. at McGraw-Jennings Field.
