Bonnies fall to Cornell 4-1

Sept. 12, 2003

CORNELL, N.Y. - Despite a 1-0 halftime lead over Cornell, the St. Bonaventure men's soccer team allowed four second-half goals, falling to the Big Red, 4-1.

St. Bonaventure senior Jahmal Cameron netted a straight shot in the 35th minute, recording his team-high third goal of the season.

Cornell's offense caught fire in the second half, scoring four goals on nine shots. In the 48th minute, the Big Red's Scott Palguta put one past the Bonnies' senior goalkeeper, Mike Krupka, on a penalty kick.

The Bonnies' defense denied Cornell over the next 17 minutes until Steven Reuter sent the ball into the far right corner of the net to put Cornell up 2-1.

Reuter struck again in the 76th minute, beating Krupka to pull further ahead of the Bonnies 3-1. The Big Red put the game away with less than three minutes to play when Evan Wiener scored off a corner kick by Kyle Jones.

The loss drops the Bonnies to 0-3-1 on the season.

St. Bonaventure will return to action at Penn State on Sept. 21 for a 3:00 p.m. match-up with the Nittany Lions.
