ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. -
Rhode Island completed a three-game sweep of St. Bonaventure with an 8-0 win over the Bonnies on Sunday morning at McGraw-Jennings Field.
Despite cold temperatures and a one-hour rain delay, Rhode Island's Zach Zuercher pitched a no-hitter. The Bonnies had no answer for Zuercher, as he struck out 11 and improved to 5-3 on the season.
The game remained scoreless prior to the delay, but Bona pitcher Matt Landahl gave up a two-run double off the bat of Dan Batz as a part of a three-run Rhode Island fifth inning. The Rams tacked on two runs in the sixth and three runs in the seventh to secure the win.
Landahl took the loss for the Bonnies, falling to 2-3.
The Bonnies fell to 15-16 overall and 6-6 in the Atlantic 10. Rhode Island improved to 22-15-1 and 13-2 in conference play.
Tuesday, the Bonnies take on Canisius in the Big 4 Classic at Dunn Tire Park in Buffalo, N.Y. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
