ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - Opening Day inches closer on the horizon with the St. Bonaventure baseball team officially releasing the 2027 slate of games.

First on the schedule, Bona's opening series will begin on Feb. 19 as the Bonnies will travel to Lexington, Va. for a four-game series against VMI, members of the Southern Conference.

The following two weekends, the Bonnies will travel back to Virginia. Bona will open a four-game series against Lehigh on Feb. 26 in a neutral-site setting at Shepard Stadium in Colonial Heights. It's the first meeting between the programs since 2022.

After that, the Bonnies will stay in the Commonwealth to clash with Longwood in a three-game series in Farmville starting on March 5. The Lancers won 34 games last season and reached the Big South Conference Championship Game.

Once their Virginia swing ends, the Bonnies will travel back to Vestal, N.Y. on March 9 to duel in a single game tune up against Binghamton. The Bearcats and Bonnies split the regular season series last year.

The Bonnies are then slated to travel to Newark, Del. for their last non-conference series against Delaware on March 13-15. This will mark the first meeting between the Bonnies and the Blue Hens, who are members of Conference USA and coached by Bona's alum, Greg Mamula, '98.

Bona will play midweek non-conference games on Tuesdays throughout their conference schedule. They will host Binghamton for the home opener inside Handler Park at McGraw-Jennings Field on March 16. A week later they will travel to University Park, Pa. to clash with the only Power 4 opponent on the schedule, Penn State.

On March 30, the Bonnies will host rival Canisius. The Bonnies will also travel to Canisius on April 27. Bona leads the all-time series 31-24-1 and won the most recent meeting, 11-2. The Bonnies will also host Le Moyne, winners of 22 conference games last season in the Northeast Conference.

The Bonnies will round out their non-conference schedule with a home-and-home against Niagara. The Purple Eagles will host the first game on April 20, and then the Bonnies will welcome NU to Handler Park the second game on May 4.

March 19 marks the opening of Atlantic 10 play for the Bonnies, as they will travel to Arlington, Va. to start a three-game series against George Washington. Bona won last year's series.

The following weekend of March 25-27, the Bonnies will host the defending A10 champions, VCU, for the conference home opener. The Bonnies home conference schedule consists of hosting La Salle (April 9-11), George Mason (April 23-25), Richmond (April 30-May 2) and will close the season with Davidson (May 20-22).

In league road competition, Bona will travel to Saint Louis (April 2-4), Fordham (April 16-18), Rhode Island (May 7-9) and Dayton (May 13-15).

In all, the Bonnies are slated to host 19 games. Last year, Handler Park underwent a $1.5 million renovation project. The project includes a new backstop and netting system extending down the third base line; bleacher seating with backrests for over 400 fans; ADA accessible seating behind home plate; a two-story press box with enhanced broadcast and media capabilities and updated sound system.

The Bonnies are under their fifth season under Coach Rathbun and welcome 23 newcomers to the roster.
