ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. -
Seniors Nate Cameron, Eric Wilson and Matt Landahl made their Senior Day a memorable one on Saturday as they led St. Bonaventure to a 2-0 win over Massachusetts at McGraw-Jennings Field.
Cameron pitched the first complete game shutout of his career, and Wilson and Landahl each had two hits.
The shutout gave the Bonnies the series over the Minutemen as they took two out of the three games. St. Bonaventure clinched a berth in the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament with a 4-2 win on Friday. The A-10 Tournament will be held May 26-30 at Dodd Stadium in Norwich, Conn.
St. Bonaventure plated a run in the first inning when Landahl singled, advanced to second on a wild pitch, stole third base and then scored on the sacrifice fly of freshman right fielder Brian Pellegrini.
The score remained 1-0 until Wilson smacked a home run over the left field fence in the eighth inning. It was his seventh of the year, giving him the team lead.
Cameron allowed only seven UMass hits as he improved to 4-1 on the year. He struck out seven and walked three.
UMass' Keith Doherty was the loser despite allowing just six hits. He did walk five.
St. Bonaventure is now 25-19 overall and finishes its Atlantic 10 schedule at 14-7. Massachusetts, which has one A-10 series left to play, is 18-24 overall and 9-12.
The Bonnies will complete their regular season schedule with a game at Binghamton on Tuesday, May 18, at 1:00.
