Final Stats

CORNING, N.Y. - Not bothered by the strong winds and snow flurries, the St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse team improved to 3-0 with a 17-6 win over Central Connecticut St. on Sunday afternoon at Corning Memorial Stadium.

The Bonnies dominated every statistical category, holding a 47-12 advantage in shots and a 19-6 edge in draw controls.

The Blue Devils jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead just four minutes into the game. Junior Katie Hurley highlighted a 4-0 charge with three goals to give Bonaventure a 4-2 lead with 15:54 remaining.

After a goal by senior Alexis Spallone was sandwiched in between a pair of CCSU scores, the Bonnies broke the game open with six-straight goals to take a commanding 11-4 lead into the break. Senior Nicole Motondo scored her second and third goals of the game to start the streak, while seniors Sarah Dressler and Spallone and freshmen Keri Vito and Katelyn Faas scored the others.

Just 2:46 into the second half, senior Courtney Gibbons kept the Bona attack rolling as she tallied her first goal of the season off a pass from Hurley to extend the lead to eight, at 12-4.

Back-to-back Central Connecticut St. goals closed the gap to six, but the Bona defense didn't allow a shot over the final 16:11 of the game to clinch the win. Fueled by the defense, the St. Bonaventure offense continued to click as it finished the game with five consecutive goals, including a pair from sophomore Stefanie Jordan and one from Hurley, Faas and Vito.

Hurley led the way with a career-high six points on four goals and two assists. Motondo wasn't far behind with five points on three goals and two assists. With her third goal of the game, Motondo became the fourth player in school history to reach the 100-goal plateau. Sophomore Brenna Houghton dished out three assists while Faas' three points came on a pair of goals and one assist.

Junior Eileen Gagnon turned away two shots in net en route becoming the third different Bona goalie to earn a win this season.

St. Bonaventure will play its final game in Corning on Wednesday when it takes on Marist. Draw time is scheduled for 4 p.m.
