ST.BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - Derrik Lutz allowed just one run and struck out 12 batters over eight innings to lead George Washington to a 10-2 win over St. Bonaventure on Thursday at McGraw-Jennings Field.

The score remained 1-0 until the fifth when the Colonials scored three times against Bonnies starter Eddie Williams. Charlie Kruer led off with a home run. Later in the frame, Whitey Wallace's suicide squeeze bunt scored Mickey Shupin from third base. The Colonials tacked on another run on a double steal.

George Washington took control with six runs in the sixth inning. Bryan Hwang's two-run single was one of five Colonial hits in the inning.

St. Bonaventure's only other run came in the ninth when Matt Mardeusz led off with a double and later scored on a single by Brandon Salerno.

The Colonials out-hit the Bonnies 10-5 on the afternoon. St. Bonaventure was guilty of four errors.

St. Bonaventure and George Washington are now tied in the Atlantic 10 standings at 5-5. The Bonnies fell to 10-11 overall while the Colonials improved to 12-21.

The Bonnies and GW will continue their series Friday and Saturday. First pitch on both days is set for noon.
