Bonnies split final two games in Florida

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - St. Bonaventure split its final two games of its week-long trip to Florida, falling 13-5 to LIU-Brooklyn on Saturday and defeating New Jersey Institute of Technology 14-6 on Sunday.

The Bonnies finished their nine games in the Sunshine State with a record of 4-5.

St. Bonaventure made quick work of NJIT as it jumped out to a 7-1 lead through four innings. Senior shortstop Josh Perkins had a two-run home run in the first inning, junior center fielder Randy Moley smacked a two-run round-tripper of his own in the second. Sophomore first baseman Tristan Mulcahy hit a pair of two-run home runs - his team-leading fourth and fifth homers of the year. Mulcahy finished 4-5 on the day, as did Moley. The Bonnies had 15 hits total.

Senior lefthander Eddie Williams (2-1) won for the second time in as many starts. He allowed six runs on seven hits with six strikeouts in 5-1/3 innings of work.

Saturday, the Bonnies dropped a 10-inning affair to LIU when they allowed eight runs in the 10th frame. LIU totaled six hits in the inning including a one out home run by Phil Rowan.

Cody Vincent, who pitched 5-1/3 innings in relief, took the loss and fell to 0-3.

St. Bonaventure, which is now 4-8 on the season, returned home on Sunday night. The Bonnies' next action will be a two-game set at West Virginia on March 21-22.
