Final Stats

ST. BONAVENTURE, NY - Mike Proctor struck out eight batters and senior slugger Brian Pellegrini homered as St. Bonaventure defeated Saint Joseph's 12-7 on Sunday afternoon at Fred Handler Park.

The Bonnies picked up the series win over the Hawks to improve to 7-10 overall and 2-1 in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Saint Joseph's fell to 3-14, including 1-2 in conference action.

After giving up a run in the first inning, Proctor settled in and took control of the game. He threw 65 of his 101 pitches for strikes, and struck out all three Saint Joseph's batters in the third. Proctor (2-3) allowed three runs on five hits in six innings of work before handing the ball off to senior Ryan Kerr in the seventh.

The Bonnies held an early 2-1 lead before scoring four runs in the bottom half of the fourth inning. Tristan Mulcahy got things started with a double down the left field line that plated senior left fielder Joe Rizzo and sophomore second baseman Kevin Suminski. After two Saint Joseph's pitching changes and with runners on second and third, junior center fielder Randy Moley doubled to left field scoring both runners and giving the Bonnies a 6-1 advantage.

Pellegrini hit a solo homerun to lead off the fifth inning, and drove in two more runs in the sixth with a double to left field to increase St. Bonaventure's lead to 9-1. Kerr relieved Proctor in the seventh inning and allowed three runs through two innings before handing the ball to Cody Vincent, who gave up one run and closed out the win for the Bonnies.

Pellegrini went 3-5 with four RBIs and scored twice. Moley (4-5), Suminski (2-4), and Mulcahy (2-5) each drove in two runs, while designated-hitter Josh Sova went 1-2 with a homerun and two walks.

St. Bonaventure returns to action with a three-game home series against Fordham beginning Friday, March 30. The first pitch is set for 3 p.m. at Fred Handler Park, and the game can be heard on WHDL radio, 1450 AM.
