Final Stats

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - In a game that lasted nearly four hours and featured 24 runs, 38 hits and 12 different pitchers it was a two-run double by Ryan Weber in the 11th inning that gave Temple a 13-11 win over St. Bonaventure on Saturday afternoon at Handler Park.

The loss didn't effect the Bonnies (25-25/14-12) position in next week's Atlantic 10 Tournament as the Brown and White will be the sixth seed. St. Bonaventure will take on the third seed which will either be Fordham or Richmond on Wednesday, May 23, at 3:30 p.m.

The other first round game will feature fourth-seeded Xavier (17-10) against fifth-seeded Rhode Island (16-11) at noon. Regular season champion Charlotte earned the top seed, while the second seed will be either Fordham or Richmond. The four-day double-elimination tournament will be hosted by Dayton with all games being played at Fifth Third Park.

Seniors Kieran Malone, Matt Mardeusz and Josh Perkins had three hits each to lead the 17-hit Bona offense. Malone went 3-4 with two doubles and three RBI. Perkins was a home run shy of hitting for the cycle, going 3-5 with two runs scored. Mardeusz finished with three singles, two runs and one RBI.

Temple's Eric Fritz earned the win on the mound after four solid innings in relief. Fritz limited the Brown and White to just two hits in four innings of work in innings 7-10.

After driving in the eventual game-winning runs, Weber moved from shortstop to pitcher in the bottom of the 11th and picked up his fourth save of the season.

Junior Michael Proctor got the start on the hill for the Bonnies and lasted 5 innings before giving way to the Bona bullpen. Freshman Adam Bristol was the final pitcher for St. Bonaventure and was charged with the loss after two innings of work.

Junior Josh Sova cracked his fourth home run of the season to lead off the fourth inning and finished 2-4 with two walks, three runs and two RBI. Junior Randy Moley and catcher B.J. Salerno chipped in with two hits each.

Following the game, St. Bonaventure honored seniors Dan Hill, Ryan Kerr, Kris Kilmartin, Kieran Malone, Matt Mardeusz, Josh Perkins, Brian Pellegrini, Joe Rizzo and Eddie Williams, who all played their final home game. Each player took their traditional final lap around the bases.
