ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - Cody Vincent pitched a complete game shutout as St. Bonaventure defeated Duquesne 4-0 on Sunday afternoon at Fred Handler Park.

Vincent (4-6) allowed just five hits in the game and struck out five Duquesne batters in his team-leading fourth complete game of the season. Dukes' pitcher Alex Sharik allowed three earned runs on five hits in six innings of work in a losing effort.

St. Bonaventure won two of three games against the Dukes to win a crucial Atlantic-10 Conference series.

Brian Pellegrini put the Bonnies on the board in the first inning with a solo shot to left field. The blast was Pellegrini's 12 of the season - just two shy of tying Mike Rapacioli's single season home run record set in 2001.

St. Bonaventure added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on second baseman Kieran Malone's double with two men on base. With a 3-0 lead in the sixth, Josh Sova scored on a sacrifice fly by center fielder Randy Moley to put the Bonnies up 4-0 en route to the final margin of victory.

Malone went 1-4 with two RBI, while Pellegrini finished the day 1-3 with a home run. Senior third baseman Matt Mardeusz went 2-3, but highlighted his game with a spectacular leaping catch in the fourth inning that robbed Duquesne catcher Derek Mechling of a line drive single.

St. Bonaventure (21-21) improved to 11-9 in the Atlantic 10 Conference, while Duquesne (17-25) fell to 7-14 in the A-10.

The Bonnies, currently in the sixth and final playoff spot, continue their push toward the A-10 Tournament with a three game road series against Charlotte beginning Friday. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
