All 11 of the Bonnies' hits came in the single variety as they fell to 6-5 with the loss. Senior Randy Moley's pair of singles marked his seven-straight game with multi-hits and ninth time this season. Sophomore Kyle Gorby along with freshmen Jesse Bosnik and Ryan Mosher each had two hits.
After a Kuhn solo blast gave the Mountaineers a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, the Bonnies tied the game at 1-1 in their half of the second. Junior Anthony Randich drew a walk to leadoff the inning and was moved into scoring position after a sacrifice bunt by senior T.J. Pennino. Coach Larry Sudbrook's sacrifice call was made good in the very next at-bat when Bosnik drove home Randich with an RBI single.
Kuhn struck again in the bottom of the third, driving in two of West Virginia's three runs in the inning with his second homer of the game to give the home team a 4-1 lead.
St. Bonaventure climbed to within one, 4-3, on back-to-back RBI singles from Randich and junior catcher B.J. Salerno in the top of the fifth inning.
Just as the Bonnies were working their way back into the contest, West Virginia put the game out of reach with a 10-run bottom of the fifth, three runs in the sixth and four more in the eighth for the convincing win.
