Final Stats

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - Seven different pitchers combined to toss a five-hitter as St. Bonaventure also pounded out 14 hits en route to a convincing 10-2 non-conference win over Niagara on Tuesday afternoon at Fred Handler Park.

The Bonnies (27-21) will now turn their focus to this week's Atlantic 10 series at Richmond. St. Bonaventure enters the series two games ahead of a trio of teams for the sixth and final conference postseason berth. Game one of the three-game set will begin at 3 p.m. on Thursday.

Every player in the Brown and White's starting lineup finished with at least one hit, led by senior Randy Moley's 3-for-4 day. Moley also scored three runs, while adding an RBI triple and two stolen bases. Moley's three runs scored breaks the program's single-season record giving him 59 on the year, while his pair of stolen bases gives him 50 for his career.

Seniors T.J. Pennino and Josh Sova along with junior Kevin Suminski all finished with two hits. Pennino cracked his first home run of the season and the sixth of his career in the seventh inning, while both of Suminski's hits were doubles. Sophomore Anthony Randich and reigning A-10 Rookie of the Week Jesse Bosnik also added extra-base hits, both in the form of doubles.

Niagara's first run and three of its five hits came in the top of the first inning off St. Bonaventure starter Aron Meindl. The freshman then tossed a scoreless second inning, starting a streak of six innings in a row for the Bona pitching staff without allowing a run.

The pitching staff by committee was then led by sophomore Dennis Sherba, who worked a perfect third and fourth inning to earn the win. Freshman Cael Johnson then entered and hurled a perfect two and one-third innings that included two strikeouts. Sophomores Cory Sudbrook and Brian Hardner combined to work a full inning, giving way to freshman Brad Steinbach who closed out the game.
