Men's soccer drops road game to Temple, 1-0

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - Despite Temple being outshot 20-7, St. Bonaventure men's soccer could not find the back of the net in the 1-0 loss at Ambler Soccer Complex on Friday afternoon.

St. Bonaventure now moves to 6-6 on the season and 2-2 in the Atlantic 10. With the win Temple improves to 8-4-1 and 3-1 in conference play.

"We created opportunities throughout the ball game. It just seemed like everything we shot was blocked. You have to give Temple credit; they made some great saves on some tough shots. They defended very well in the box," said head coach Mel Mahler. "We had some great opportunities to finish, but Temple hung around and did a good enough job to find a way to win."

The Bonnies had several chances in the second half taking three corner kicks and notching four shots in a seven minute period.

Temple jumped on the board first in the in the 57th minute when Homero Rodriguez sent a ball through to Augustin Coly. The ball was chipped off junior keeper David Flynn giving Coly another shot to net it just inside the left post.

Senior Sam Maheu led the team with seven shots while junior Fabrizio Savarino shot four. Flynn picked up two saves.

The Bonnies continue their weekend road trip facing Saint Joseph's on Sunday. Kick-off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Live stats for Sunday's game at Saint Joseph's can found through the Gametracker feature on www.GoBonnies.com.

"We have to regroup and find a way to get three points this week. It's disappointing but we just have to all shoulder the responsibility for this one. I felt this was a game we played well enough to win."
